Google Confirms Two Critical Chrome Security Updates Within 48 Hours

Google has released two important security updates for its Chrome browser within just 48 hours, an unusually fast response that highlights the growing importance of browser security. The latest update, version 150.0.7871.128/.129, is now rolling out to Windows, macOS, and Linux users, bringing fixes for several serious vulnerabilities that could have exposed users to cyber threats if left unpatched.

The newest release addresses a total of seven security vulnerabilities, including three critical flaws that received the highest severity ratings under the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS). While Google has not reported any evidence that these vulnerabilities are being actively exploited in real-world attacks, the company is urging users to update Chrome as soon as possible to stay protected.

According to Google, the three critical issues are related to a class of memory-management bugs known as use-after-free vulnerabilities. These security flaws occur when software attempts to access memory that has already been released, potentially allowing attackers to execute malicious code, crash applications, or bypass important security protections.

Google Technical Program Manager Daniel Yip identified the affected components as CameraCapture (CVE-2026-15899), GPU (CVE-2026-15900), and the Chrome Network component (CVE-2026-15901). All three vulnerabilities were discovered internally by Google’s own security teams rather than external researchers. Industry experts believe Google’s growing use of AI-powered vulnerability detection tools may be helping the company identify and patch complex security issues much faster than before.

The rapid release follows another Chrome security update issued only two days earlier, which also fixed multiple critical vulnerabilities. Security analysts say receiving two major Chrome updates in such a short period is uncommon and demonstrates Google’s aggressive approach to protecting its billions of users from emerging cyber threats.

Users are advised to check for updates immediately by opening Chrome, clicking the three-dot menu, navigating to Settings > About Chrome, and allowing the browser to download the latest version automatically. A browser restart completes the installation.

With cyberattacks becoming increasingly sophisticated, keeping browsers updated remains one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect personal information, online accounts, and sensitive data from potential security risks.
