PlayStation Strengthens 2026 Lineup with Wolverine, God of War and Major New Releases

As the gaming industry continues to prepare for the highly anticipated launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, Sony has unveiled an impressive lineup of upcoming PlayStation 5 titles, signaling that gamers will have plenty of reasons to stay engaged beyond Rockstar’s blockbuster release.

During its latest State of Play presentation, Sony showcased a mix of first-party exclusives and third-party projects that are set to shape the second half of 2026. The biggest highlight of the event was Marvel’s Wolverine, developed by Insomniac Games.

After years of anticipation, the action title finally received an extended gameplay reveal along with a confirmed release date of September 15.

Featuring intense combat, stealth elements and a darker tone than the studio’s Spider-Man series, Wolverine is expected to become one of PlayStation’s most important releases of the year.

Another major surprise came from the God of War franchise. Instead of continuing Kratos’ journey, the newly announced God of War: Laufey will place players in the role of Faye, introducing a fresh story and a combat system focused on speed, agility and magical abilities.

Although no release date was announced, the reveal generated significant excitement among fans.

September is shaping up to be one of the busiest months in recent gaming history. Remedy Entertainment confirmed that Control Resonant will launch on September 24, while Silent Hill Townfall is scheduled for the same day.

Capcom’s Onimusha: Way of the Sword will follow on September 25, creating a packed schedule of high-profile releases.

Sony also provided updates on several other projects. Dune: Awakening is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 on September 22, while Ace Combat 8 will launch on October 2.

Horror fans can look forward to Until Dawn 2, and action RPG enthusiasts will see No Rest for the Wicked arrive later this year.

Additional surprises included the revival of the Stuntman franchise with Stuntman: Hollywood and the announcement of Bancho the Chef, a new adventure from the creators of Dave the Diver.

While Grand Theft Auto 6 remains the industry’s most anticipated title, Sony’s latest showcase demonstrates that PlayStation has built strong momentum with a diverse and ambitious lineup of games heading into the remainder of 2026.
