Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is once again at the center of a major leak controversy, with newly circulated gameplay footage reportedly revealing additional details about Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated open-world title.
The latest footage appears to show protagonist Jason Duval carrying out a robbery at a gas station convenience store before escaping by car. During the sequence, the gameplay reportedly switches into a slow-motion camera effect following a car crash, offering a glimpse at a feature that has not previously been publicly demonstrated by Rockstar.
After the crash, Jason is reportedly seen escaping into a strip club, another setting that longtime Grand Theft Auto players may find familiar. While the presence of such locations is not surprising for the franchise, the leaked slow-motion sequence has attracted particular attention because Rockstar has yet to provide a full public gameplay demonstration.
The leaks come as anticipation surrounding GTA 6 continues to grow ahead of an expected official presentation. According to the information provided, Netflix is scheduled to host a major GTA 6 reveal on August 27 at 3 p.m. ET, marking an unusual promotional move for a major video game.
Meanwhile, Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive are reportedly taking legal steps to identify those responsible for distributing the leaked material. Court-authorized subpoenas involving GitHub, Microsoft and Discord have reportedly been sought as part of efforts to trace the source of allegedly stolen game content.
The leak controversy has also drawn attention from Microsoft. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet said on X that Xbox is working with Take-Two and Rockstar Games to support efforts to protect creative works and intellectual property.
The alleged main leaker, operating under the name Cyberleeks, has reportedly attempted to monetize access and advertising around leaked footage, with reports claiming prices as high as $165,000 in cryptocurrency.
Although the leaks are a setback for Rockstar, they are simultaneously generating enormous online interest in GTA 6. Until Rockstar officially confirms the leaked features, however, players should treat individual gameplay details as unverified.
With the official reveal approaching, fans may soon learn which of the leaked elements are genuinely part of the final game and which are not.
