Xiaomi Expands Premium Smartphone Lineup With New ‘Max’ Model
Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date of its upcoming flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Max, which is scheduled to debut in China on May 21.
The device has been the subject of multiple leaks and teasers in recent weeks, and the company has now revealed several key details ahead of its unveiling.
The Xiaomi 17 Max is expected to become one of the most feature-packed phones in the company’s premium lineup. It will join other models in the Xiaomi 17 series, including the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and 17 Ultra.
Reports also suggest that the Xiaomi 17T series could launch later this month.
Visually, the smartphone is expected to follow Xiaomi’s familiar flagship design language with a large flat display, slim bezels, and a centered front camera cutout.
On the back, the device will feature a square-shaped camera module housing a triple-camera setup. The company has already teased color options including black, blue, and white variants.
Focus on Battery Life, Performance and Camera Upgrades
One of the biggest highlights of the Xiaomi 17 Max is its enormous 8,000mAh battery, which could make it one of the largest batteries seen in a mainstream flagship smartphone.
The phone is also expected to support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging for faster power delivery.
The device will reportedly be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, positioning it among the top-performing Android smartphones expected this year.
It is also tipped to feature a large 6.9-inch AMOLED display designed for gaming, multimedia and heavy daily usage.
Photography is another major focus area for the new flagship. Xiaomi has confirmed that the phone will include a Leica-backed 200-megapixel main camera, accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor.
While the launch is currently limited to China, reports indicate Xiaomi may still consider bringing the device to international markets, including India. However, the company has not officially confirmed a global release timeline yet.
