Samsung has officially introduced its next generation of foldable smartphones during the Galaxy Unpacked July 2026 event held in London.
The new lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8, with each model designed to deliver a different foldable experience powered by Samsung’s latest AI capabilities.
The company is focusing heavily on combining advanced hardware with intelligent software to improve productivity, creativity, and everyday convenience.
The biggest highlight of the launch is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the first Ultra-branded foldable in Samsung’s lineup.
The device features an ultra-thin design, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215 grams, making it the thinnest Galaxy Fold device to date.
It sports a large 8-inch foldable display, enhanced with Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology, which helps reduce the visibility of the display crease while improving durability.
Under the hood, the Fold8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, paired with a 5,000mAh battery to support demanding AI-powered multitasking.
Samsung also introduced several new AI features for the Fold8 Ultra, including Gemini Notebook, which can summarize documents and convert meeting notes into presentations, podcasts, videos, and quizzes. Another feature, Now Nudge, intelligently opens Multi Window when it predicts users may need multiple apps simultaneously, making multitasking more seamless.
The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 arrives with a redesigned form factor, featuring a 5.5-inch cover display and a 7.6-inch foldable main display with optimized aspect ratios for reading, gaming, and video streaming. Weighing only 201 grams, it becomes Samsung’s lightest Fold smartphone so far. It also introduces My FanCam, an AI-powered feature that automatically tracks a selected subject in videos, while the upgraded Galaxy AI assistant can perform complex tasks such as finding hotels based on shared photos.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip8 focuses on portability and convenience. Weighing just 180 grams and measuring 6.1mm when unfolded, the compact foldable features an improved FlexWindow, allowing users to check notifications, weather, schedules, stock updates, and messaging apps without opening the phone. Samsung has also enhanced the camera experience with Dual Recording for content creators and Camcorder Grip for stable one-handed video recording.
With the introduction of smarter AI features, refined hardware, and three distinct foldable options, Samsung aims to expand the appeal of foldable smartphones for both productivity-focused professionals and everyday users. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8 are expected to become the company’s flagship foldable devices for 2026, offering a wider range of experiences tailored to different lifestyles.
